This was a rose painted from a photo took this May when I visited my sister in California. She has the most beautiful rose garden!
I sketched in the petal shapes with paint to get the feel of the petals and then cross-hatched a white rose with
Mixing Yellow, Deep Blue Green and Soft Pink. Cherryl then showed me the strokes to make creating the red petal edges.
I used Blood Red for this. I also asked her to show me the dew drops.
The stems and leaves were painted at home. Will add shadow and a possible background color next.
