I believe that the best way we learn is truly thru experience even though classes are invaluable. Lately what is coming up for me is how important it is to plan your project from composition to colors used and be aware of differences in firing times. In this project which is a study by Helen Humes using Paula White's South Brown I wanted to see if the South Brown would really hold it's color at .016 as Paula says. As you see it was a very bold peachy orange color that seemed to fade with each firing. That can be used of course, to my advantage if I am aware and plan for this. Before firing: After firing @ .016: You can see how much South Brown faded just on the first fire, but it is still a very pretty soft color. After Second Fire @ .017:
