This thread begins with Cherryl's Roses and Berries study. I was so excited about it that I did two fires at home before I took it to class. Cherryl helped me to correct color issues and worked with me on color and composition especially and the end result was a really pretty plate!
I have been working on this study at home for the past couple of months...there is a lot to learn! Here is my current piece...I know that I still have some work to do but wanted to post it today anyway.
It's great to post photos as they show up so much on the PC! The first thing I see is that I must darken the area above the roses...those dark leaves below the yellow-red rose really stand out!
My yellow rose looks yellow now...but has lost it's pretty yellow orange edges ;( Still working on what will work for me so that I can paint a pretty yellow rose with soft orange edges and I have an idea in mind...stay tuned! I will tell you that I finally did load my brush with more pecan than I had been and that did seem to help with the color yellow.
Not so happy with my leaves, but it seemed the more layers the less happy I became so may just play a bit more here experimenting and then wiping off and leaving them as they are. There is always a next piece...lol I really like the way the leaves were painted on my roses and grapes piece that was done in class...need to go back to leaves!
I may also add a bit of yellow-red wash in some places...but I'm going to wait a bit and just feel the piece and see what I think in a few days.
This study does have so many layers that come together in the end that make it an exceptional piece to be proud of...with Cherryl's help I have been able to work with an advanced study and continue to learn from it. We always see those areas that we might wish were different, but for me any part in which I have improved on and grown just makes me feel good!
Oh...and the berries are improving, too, though I still had issues with my Dallas China Mixing Yellow on the first fire, I kept adding layers and also added some tan and pecan washes. >^..^<
